Members of Local 1075 have carried out a lengthy, strong campaign to secure work for the Thunder Bay plant, ever since massive lay offs in December 2003. The signing of the TTC streetcar contract marked the end of a 5 year campaign to secure work for the Thunder Bay plant. CAW President Buzz Hargrove became personally involved in the campaign, assigning staff to assist and contacting federal and provincial authorities directly. The Thunder Bay community rallied behind Local 1075 efforts, sending thousands of signed letters to MPPs and MPs. The Toronto Labour Council led a campaign for "Made in Canada" which generated thousands more signed letters. For further details, go to Newsletters section.
