Business Arising from Minutes

Budget reviewed by the budget team. Budget includes: rent, phone, Internet, website, peer helper wages, coordinator wages, liability insurance, office supplies, and miscellaneous. It was also noted that in the lease agreement, there is a paragraph that requires the lease to pay for hydro. Ken talked to Essex power and the average hydro bill for the center should be $45.00/month.

A copy of the Government Agreement, to fund the center was requested by Ken. Jeff Powell has an electronic copy that he will give to Ken.

Peer Helper training provided by the United way will take place on August 13th from 9am – 1pm at the Union Hall in Ruthven

Hours of Operation – discussed whether or not to reduce the number of days of operation. The center is averaging about 30 people/week. It was decided to keep the hours of operation the same and reassess every two weeks.

Jeff Powell has requested emailed copies of the meeting minutes to post on the CAW website.

New Business

Concerns of using the CAW logo were brought up to Jeff Powell. The center can use the CAW logo, provided it includes “Local 1769”

Ken Lewenza will be at the centre Monday or Tuesday, August 11 or 12. He will be handing out the cheques for the union members. The media will also be present to bring awareness to the public on the job loss situations surrounding this area.
