GRIEVANCES: 5 Grievances in the system (LTD denial, behavioural)

SETTLED GRIEVANCES:
4-12 Benefits (Prescription Drugs) Company following language now
9-12 Mill (Heat Run O/T) Armchair paid

KINGSWAY WAREHOUSE: Company has announced it will cease warehousing activities at this location. Warehousing activities are being moved to Caledon and to other undisclosed locations.

BENEFITS BOOK: The Company keeps saying its coming but so far nothing. A grievance has been filed for not providing the book to our members.

RESIGNATIONS: Debbie Poe, Chris Fee, John Armstrong, Phil Oswald and Amanda Blodgett have resigned their employment with the Company. We wish them best in their future employment

RETIREE’S: Dave Porter (34 years) has retired as of August 1st. Congratulations to Dave and we wish him the all the best in retirement.

GLENNA HOCKADAY: our sister Glenna recently passed away
(July 16, 2012). Glenna was a 9 year member of this local and she will be greatly missed. Our deepest sympathies to Glenna’s family and friends.

Worker Killed in fall at PepsiCo Quaker Plant

A tragic accident at Danville’s PepsiCo Quaker Oats Plant has claimed the life of a worker. Vermilion County Coroner Peggy Johnson says 51-year-old Brett Hauk was pronounced dead shortly before 9:00 p.m. The death is considered an accident, but that police were called to the plant to investigate the tragedy. The Vermilion County Coroner’s Office and OSHA are also investigating the incident.

LAYOFFS: As of August 3rd all members have been recalled.

RED FRIDAYS: show your support for the men and woman of the Canadian Armed forces by wearing red on Fridays.

RETIREE CHAPTER: the retiree chapter meet every second Thursday of the month at St. Alphonsus Hall. Please pass on to any retirees you know that we have an active chapter so they may have a chance to attend a meeting.

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING: next general membership meeting is Tuesday August 14 @3:30pm, 203 Park St. N
