Second Shift To Be Added To GM Oshawa's Flex Line

General Motors announced on February 11 that a second shift will be added to Oshawa's Flexible Manufacturing Line in the fourth quarter of 2010. This means that approximately 700 laid off GM members will be back at work before the end of the year.

CAW Local 222 President Chris Buckley and the entire GM Shop Committee have been pressing the company to add a second shift in the Flex Line due to the strong demand for the Camaro. Now with the Buick Regal coming to Oshawa, GM made the decision to add an extra shift.

“This is very good news for 700 of our GM members who are currently on layoff”, said Shop Committee Chairperson Greg Moffatt. “We will continue to work hard to ensure that the remaining members on layoff will be brought back to work as soon as possible.”
