We currently have 89 hourly active hourly workers and 2 workers still on lay off. We are a 60 year old company and were part of the UE Local 520 before amalgamating with the CAW.

The main work done at Nichirin is assembling fittings, brackets, eyejoints to hoses. They are then sent to Honda, Harley and G.M. to be used for brake and powersteering in the automotive and motorcycle industries. Honda is our biggest customer with 85% of our business. We are a Japanese owned company with 3 other factories in North America. At the peak of our operation we employed over 200 members but because of the economic downturn the company had to lay off over 75% of our members. We have also experienced our jobs going to our sister company in Tennessee, because of lower wages and no benefits.
We will say goodbye to Kath Blackett due to retirement, we wish her well.

At OLG Casino Brantford, we have over 500 slot machines as well as 50 table games which include 14 Texas Hold’em Poker tables.
The CAW represents some 650 employees in various departments such as Slots, Table Games, Food & Beverage, Cage & Coin, Facilities, Front Services and Marketing.
The Casino is currently going through a $45 million renovation which will result in an expansion of our gaming floor as well as our restaurant and hospitality area. At the completion of this project the hope is we will be in a position to ask the Company for more employment opportunities. We will keep you posted.
